You’ve given me more than I
require,
Jesus my Lord my Saviour
Redeemer,
I asked You only for my daily
bread,
You gave me Your sufficiency
instead,
I asked only that I by You be
led,
Your Holy Spirit eased my
burdened head,
I only wanted to be Your
servant,
Ere your choice, I sought to
be obedient,
But You put me to serve at
Your Right Hand,
To see works I would never
understand,
O Giver of more than we ere
can ask,
Let love be my everyday
willing task.
You’ve given me more than I am
worthy,
O Heavenly Father, Just and
Holy,
I gave You my life to use as
You please,
I said I loved You more than
my these;
Now You have given me sheep by
the score,
And have told me that there is
more, much more,
I asked for a place, e’en in
the last seat,
Yet You hold me up for others
to meet;
I asked for a life that to You
is pleasing,
You chose to give Your
Spirit’s indwelling,
O Giver of more that we ere
can seek,
Let Love be my voice, let Him
in me speak.
You’ve given me more that I
could dare dream,
Nought of this wealth was in my plan or scheme,
I sought not to be some
high servant great,
Yet for Your Word You have me
daily wait;
I asked just for some time
with You to spend,
But You talk with me now, as
friend with friend,
I asked only to know You as I
ought,
Yet from the beginning my life
You sought;
I am unworthy Lord, this much
I know,
Yet You choose in me Your
fullness to show;
O Giver of more than we ere
can take,
Let Love be the rule, only for
Love’s sake.
You’ve given me more than, for
which I’d hoped,
Even, O Master, when I had not
coped,
When I asked just for a little
water,
You gave me a source, a
complete river;
When I sought solace in times
of sadness,
You robed me in comfort and
blessedness;
I know my place as one
undeserving,
Still You give me the grace of
repenting,
I never asked for riches a
plenty,
Yet You poured out on me
abundantly;
O Giver of more than we ere
can show,
Let Love become flesh, in me
here below.
Amen!
