THOUGH FAITH IS LACKING, HE'S STILL WORKING

Luke 8: 23 - 25

Together with Jesus on a peaceful lake,

He and His disciples a journey did take,

To the far side of the lake they were going,

But Jesus fell asleep while they were sailing;

Suddenly a squall on this calm lake came down,

And the friends of Jesus were sure they would drown,

In great fear and panic, Jesus they awoke,

Desperation took hold as to Him they spoke.

Master! We are about to drown in this squall,

How can You be sleeping, don’t You care at all?

Jesus awoke and turned the turmoil to calm,

Now His friends saw that they were safe from all harm.

“Where is your faith?” was Jesus’ questioning,

Even though faith was lacking, He was still working.

Together with Christ we begin a journey,

All is going well and we are quite happy,

That He is there with us, we do surely know,

Although His profile is noticeably low;

Then a sudden, unexpected dilemma,

Quickly plunges us in depths of danger.

We begin to panic as fear takes over,

And faith surrenders to fear’s greater power;

Frantically we cry out loudly to Jesus,

Can’t You see just what is happening to us?

O Master, this peril we cannot survive,

Don’t you care that we’ll never come through alive?

Then Jesus restores all the quiet and calm,

And we see that He’s kept us from danger and harm.

Where is your faith? Jesus still keeps on asking,

Even thou faith is lacking, He’s still working.

                                        Amen!
