Pray Without Ceasing

 

If prayer is between Father God and humans,

A response which the Lord Himself commands,

Then He sets the example, not you or me,

Showing exactly, what prayer ought to be, 

He demonstrates fully what prayer’s about,

So that we are not plagued by any doubt,

For God does not just talk the talk of prayer

He lives prayer in all who will heed and hear,

There is absolutely no prayer that we must pray,

Nothing to Father God we have to say,

That has not already gone up for us,

By our High Priest, triumphant Lord Jesus,

Yes, He prayed and still prays unceasingly,

Prayers for you and me, untiringly.

 

If praying’s not a one person affair,

Where those engaged in prayer speak and they hear,

Then when we pray it’s no monologue show,

Where we speak and God our words hear and know,

But we leave His presence none the wiser,

We don’t know what He’s said, or shown either,

Religiously we pray, without ceasing,

Ignorant, not really understanding,

Unceasing prayer is also of the Lord,

We must follow with unbroken accord,

We breathe unceasingly because we live,

Only those, who to Christ, their whole lives give,

Will know, like their Master, prayer unceasing,

Living in Him, complete lives abiding.
