Give me a heart of prayer dear Lord,
That is with You in holy accord,
A heart submissive to Your will,
So that with love You can it fill,
And that love’s call will be my way,
Lord, as I breathe, so let me pray.
Give me the mind that feeds on Thee,
Dear Saviour 'tis my humble plea,
That all I think or want beside,
You will take hold of and me guide,
So that in all I speak or do,
Lord, as I go, let me show You.
Give me the lips that of You speak,
For Lord, Your wisdom I do seek,
This mouth of mine is full of guile,
And I will quickly You defile,
So take my lips, my words, my tongue,
Lord, as I move, to You I belong.
Give me a heart, surrendered all,
In whatsoever state befall,
To You I give myself away,
Only in You, dear Lord I may,
Live a full life from darkness raised,
Lord, as I live, may You be praised.
