THE WITHERED TREE – Before Jesus came into the fig tree’s life, it was living most comfortably with its spreading branches and luscious foliage. Everyone could see it from a distance as it was quite an impressive tree. No doubt, people would have passed it and admired its beauty. But Jesus went by it and seeing a fruit-less tree, immediately cursed that strong, healthy fruit tree. Why did Jesus respond with such a drastic action? His words give us the answer. Jesus was hungry and went to an advertising source of food, only to find lots of foliage, but not one single fruit. Beware! Jesus wants fruit, not foliage.
Grant me fruit Lord, that I may be Spiritual food for the hungry, in and out of season. Amen!
