Scapegoat

SCAPEGOAT – In the Book of Laws, we are told of the saving work of scapegoats. The high priest had to, lay both hands on the head of the live goat and confess over it all the wickedness and rebellion of the Israelites - all their sins - and put them on the goat’s head. Every sin, regardless of quantity or quality, was placed on the goat’s head. In that way, sins were atoned for. Has Jesus been used by God as a Scapegoat for us? It must be so, if He is the only One to atone for our sins. 1 John 2: 2 says, He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

 

Atoning Lord, we bow low before You. We offer our lives in thanks to You. Amen!
