Keep Knocking

 

   Keep knocking, yes keep knocking, at the closed door,

   Do not stop knocking, give more knocks and still more,

Hearers are behind the door, keep knocking for

They’ll hear you, and will soon open up for sure.

 

Keep knocking, keep knocking, if you continue,

Someone will respond and open up to you,

Keep knocking, each knock you make is of value,

Persistence makes the virtue of knocking true.

 

Keep knocking, keep knocking, at the door of prayer,

God’s behind the door, your every knock He’ll hear,

In sure faith, keep on knocking, do not despair,

God’s promise is to answer you, have no fear.

 

Keep knocking, grow not weary: Do not give up!

Persevere, continue knocking and don’t stop,

Keep knocking, remain at that one knocking spot,

Importune prayer will pleasing faith develop.

 

Keep knocking, you did it without wavering,

Faith kept you believing that God was hearing,

His pure grace gave you unshadowed welcoming,  

Keep knocking! Give thanks! The door is opening.
