Why Fret

 

Why fret about things which do not matter

When God has promised you what is better?

Why spend your time on corruptible things

When God, unsearchable riches yet brings?

Wealth of this world, things that are temporal,

Must not take the place of what’s eternal,

You tire and stress on what is fleeting,

What will you say at that great, grand meeting?

 

Why war and argue for your earthly right

When that is not really your pilgrim fight?

Why spend so much energy, night and day,

Striving for this world’s diminishing pay?

God has called you to Him, through His Own Son,

Who saved you with a work, completely done,

He bought and brought you out of sin's mire,

Why still carry such worldly desire?

 

Beware of your life, what your striving’s about,

That for which you are faithful and devout, 

In this world’s sight they are proper and wise,

But in God’s sight they are your sure demise,

For when King Jesus comes, at time unknown,

Will you be one who by Him will be known?

Jesus is coming, sooner than you think,

Will you to heaven rise, or to hell sink?
