Not a moment too soon, she changed her voice,
As one day Naomi announced her choice,
To return to the land of her birth place,
Knowing the challenges she’d have to face.
Calling the two who with her were living,
Women like her, whom heart-grief were sharing.
Naomi used that moment to tell them,
That she was returning to Bethlehem;
So close and so one were these widows three,
To remain with her was their only plea,
Naomi used words of discouragement,
In this most sad and difficult moment;
She ignored all their similarities,
To highlight impending difficulties;
And so she began her life to lament,
A life of only bitter confinement
Though together deep pain and loss they shared,
Naomi felt that she, the worst had feared,
For they were young and could have new living,
Yes, they could look forward to fruit bearing,
She was old, what could she be expecting
But a lonely, empty and sad existing?
Naomi made it abundantly clear,
To those who loved her and held her so dear;
For them to know a better life ahead,
They’d have to leave her, her life was all ‘dead.’
Not a moment too soon, came decision,
Love held boldly to its own position,
None of her sad, lonely circumstances,
Could move Love’s position, no differences!
For love has eyes to see the longing heart,
And wisdom to read the unscripted part.
Love never abandons the one most lost,
Regardless of what it’s likely to cost.
Are you Mara, Naomi’s bitterness?
Do you feel God’s hand has been merciless?
There is NO Naomi without a Ruth,
Remember this fact, for it is all truth.
And know there is Love that with you will stay,
True Love that refuses to go away;
May you know Christ’s Love that to you doth cleave,
Not a moment too soon, Love won’t you leave.
Amen!
