A
seed was planted in the ground
Where
all its nutrients were found,
It
grew into a spreading tree,
So
all around from it was free
To
eat its fruit that satisfied,
None
its fruit was ever denied.
But
then one day up came a man,
Who
had with him a different plan,
He
made the tree his property,
No
one then had the liberty,
To
pick and eat the fruit it bore,
The
freedom was for them, no more;
This
made so many people sad,
For
they missed all that they once had,
The
freedom to go to the tree,
And
not just all its bounty see,
But
stop and from its fruit partake,
A
sad difference this plan did make.
But
who exactly was this man?
And
precisely what was his plan?
His
name was Mr Selfish Greed,
Who
claimed that he planted that seed;
Now
that good fruit it was bearing,
All
would not its fruit be sharing,
He
put a fence around the tree,
No
longer would its fruit be free.
But
in baring the tree around,
This
is what Mr Selfish found,
Birds
of the air now had free reign,
Humans
weren’t a bother and pain,
Shooing
from each angle and side,
Birds
from humans did have to hide,
But
now that he the people barred,
Selfishness
found it very hard
To
keep those pesky birds at bay,
His
good fruit at their mercy lay.
Each
time its luscious fruit it bore,
Birds
in their droves came more and more,
Till
he got no fruit from his tree,
All
his lament was, “Woe is me.”
There
is a moral to this tale,
Selfishness
and greed won’t prevail.
Amen!
