No Buts

No buts in asking and no buts in prayer,

No buts in our thinking because of fear,

For God is faithful to be whom He is,

Who are we to doubt any word of His?

Who are we, created mortal beings?

To speak with caution of our Lord’s doings,

When He says, come, bring to Him each burden,

Why do we against Him our hearts harden?

And turn to voices which doubt and question,

As actions speak with loud declaration,

That we acknowledge our God’s promises,

But as humans we can take no chances,

For we hear alright what Sovereign God says,

But to leave things to Him - aren’t human ways,

So we seek Him as He says we should do,

However, we seek many other ways too,

Indeed, we read of faith in days of yore,

Where people were stubborn in faith, to the core,

Believing God for supernatural things,

Where faith soared high as if on eagles’ wings,

They believed God, no intrusions of but,

Their hearts to stumbling buts were tightly shut,

When God gave promise they on Him relied,

To add buts to God’s words was never applied.

Guilty! We can no more ourselves excuse,

When God’s word we gainsay and we refuse,

By adding our human to His divine,

Each saying God will help me, for He is mine,

But to have faith as we do read of old,

When folks to who God was, would strongly hold,

Can’t work for us, we say times are different,

Faith without buts, will not be sufficient.

Repent! God’s promises remain the same,

Repent! Trust God, He’ll not lie on His Name

Remove buts in asking, take buts from prayer,

Blank all buts in our thoughts, because of fear,

Our God is faithful trust whom He says He is,

Trust! Let no buts, touch promises of His.

Amen!
