THE HEART

                                                                                                                        

The heart is evil, beyond compare,

A word from God, I must heed and hear;

For if I live without holy fear,

How will I in His great kingdom share?        

The heart is stubborn, most reluctant,

To walk the path of the repentant;

If in my ways, I remain constant,

How will I know God’s Love, triumphant?    

The heart is deceitful, all the way,

It can’t abide with what God doth say;

For if wickedness in me holds sway,

How will I live in Christ, day by day?

The heart is wicked in every part,

Wretchedness that won’t from it, depart;

If I do not seek a clean, new heart,

How will I, His living truth impart?

The heart is evil, beyond repair,

Thus God’s word to all is crystal clear;

If to Him all my heart, I declare,

Then I will in His great kingdom share.
