I watched as the rain fell on the earth,
No longer suffering the recent dearth
Of the drought which plagued the dry parched ground,
Where cracks and holes were seen all around:
But now I see the earth rejoicing,
The once dull earth is now glistening.
I watched as the rain fell on the grass,
That seemed to say with relief, alas!
There’s water to quench our thirstiness,
No more will there be this brownness:
For rains have come and green takes over
The grass is now lush with life’s colour.
I watched as the rain its blessing brings,
To good and bad, it falls on all things,
Giving no favour to plant or weed,
Whether it is good or evil seed:
For God is no respecter of man,
And none can advise Him in His plan.
I watched as the rain
watered each tree,
Every plant and shrub my eyes could see,
Even each menacing killer vine,
Was watered by the Lord’s Hand Divine:
For grace is not for the faithful two,
It’s what with His grace, you take and do.
I watched as the rain fell on the dry
land,
This truth I was made to understand,
Because I receive God’s good blessing,
Doesn’t mean my life to Him is pleasing:
God looks not for what He gives to me,
But what my response to Him will be.
Amen!
