Suddenly,
a host of angels appear.
And
field shepherds are given ears to hear,
Their
joyous peace proclaiming words and song,
God’s
Peace on earth from that heavenly throng.
Suddenly,
in the fields on that dark night,
The
heavens blaze with celestial light,
God
has sent His messengers down to earth,
Telling
them of His Begotten Son’s birth.
Suddenly,
one night most ordinary,
Shepherds
are told of the King of Glory,
In
David’s city a Saviour’s been born,
What
a blessed, marvellous, holy morn.
Suddenly,
while keeping watch in that field,
Heavenly
Good News to them is revealed,
Shepherds
alone in the cool, brisk night air,
The
sent Gospel message are made to hear.
Suddenly,
though surrounded by danger,
These
shepherds are told that in a manger,
Right
there in Bethlehem, David’s city
Lies,
wrapped in swaddling bands, Divinity.
Suddenly,
Good News the shepherds’ hearts fill,
With,
peace on the earth and to all goodwill,
For
a Saviour has been born unto us,
And
He has been given the name, Jesus,
Suddenly,
to us God still sends Good News,
Of
peace and goodwill to those lives who choose,
To
hear and believe, that God’s Word’s still true,
And
not let sin’s darkness bring it to rue.
Suddenly,
in unbelievable ways,
God
to you His glory still displays,
In
times unexpected, in moments dark,
Suddenly
God sends a bright, heavenly spark.
Thank
God for His ways, to us all unknown,
Thank
God that His Love is forever shown,
Thank
God His peace each abiding heart knows,
Thank
God for suddenly His Spirit blows.
Amen!
