JESUS IS BAPTISED – On this day of remembering the Baptism of Jesus, what attitude can we learn from Him?
Of the many attitudes to emulate, I bring you Jesus’ humility. Many of you who have been baptized, have stories to tell about your experiences. Most of you however, testify to being baptized by one who is above you in many ways; your pastor, your deacon, your elder or someone in spiritual authority over you. Not so with Jesus.
On the occasion of His baptism, He stooped before one who was not even worthy to untie His shoelaces. Jesus was not too proud or too self-righteous to let John the Baptist, perform such a religious rite on Him.
Never be afraid to make yourself small, humble and free of all pride, and arrogance, so that you may stoop before someone who is below you.
Jesus, free me of all self-rightness and lawfulness, to be like You. Amen!
