Shortcuts

Life is full of shortcuts, but I you implore,

Resist every shortcut, though you them adore,

For what seems legitimate, lawful and right,

May well be disobedience in the Lord’s sight,

For God has given you the way you must go,

The way that you claim to know and to follow,

But the way of God leads not to corruption,

Neither does it hold out for you, exemption,

For Jesus is the Way, if with Him you stay,

You will not turn aside and your feet won’t stray.

Shortcuts come before you at times most urgent,

You make decisions and think they’re diligent,

For you choose a path, one you easily traverse,

And you feel justified, but to God it’s perverse,

As God’s already given what is His way,

To choose another path, is to disobey,

Though your shortcut brings no harm to anyone,

The Lord looks expressly at what you have done,

In choosing a shortcut that’s quick and at hand,

You denounce the Lord’s path for you, fixed and planned.

See the shortcut before you, but turn away,

Resist! Don’t let its ease and comforts you sway,

For to make one step onto that path of ease,

Means you will our heavenly Father displease,

Though your shortcut has brought you to the right place,

The Lord is angry, there's a frown on His face,

To worship and serve Him according to you,

Is to offer to God what’s fake and untrue.

Amen!
